Whistler

I’ve been in Whistler for the last month, hanging out living in a somewhat interesting place with all the critters of Whistler… been good times so have decided to stay! First place was just for a month so have just moved into a sweet new place with more cool peps -Thanks Izzy and Jeff. Have been cruising round on Pinky my sweet ride. Pretty funny (and scary) slaying single track on the Laser Robotic as she’s called. Looking forward to a real mountain bike (sorry pinky) and good times all summer!

Canada

I’ve been wanting to build a non flash full screen slideshow for a while, so thought with a little time on my hands, now was as good a time as ever. Took a selection of photos from the past winter and added some music. Click on the image below to check it out.

One Last Fling with Winter

A quick edit of our time at Asulkan Cabin. Sorry the video quality is not great but we were concentrating on the skiing!

About three weeks ago I lucked out and got a spot for three days of touring at the Asulkan Cabin in Rogers Pass. We had aspirations of skiing some chutes and gaining some peaks but mother nature had other ideas for us. It snowed the whole time we were there which made avalanche conditions pretty sketchy. We had to stick to the trees on some low angle terrain to make sure we were all safe, at some points this was a little frustrating as there was almost too much snow for some descents. One day the Pass road was closed with bombing going on all around to clear the highway which was a little disconcerting. Although we didn’t get to ski some lines we wanted to we weren’t complaining about getting some more super deep days in for the season!

drive by tourism usa

With not much time to burn as we had some km’s (and time) to kill I took a few snaps of the sites I saw as I drove from Revelstoke B.C to Tahoe and back again via the California coast. Nearly all we shot from the passenger seat.

kicking it

Five of us from Revelstoke swapped out our Season passes for a couple of day passes at Kicking Horse resort. (Joined by three more the second day) We were all set with our token Canadian , telemarker, girl, snowboarder, and ski racer. All being Kicking Horse virgins it took some time to find the goods but with a bit of hiking Kicking Horse has some  sweet in bounds terrain. (85 inbounds chutes they claim) After pulling out the terrain map and asking locals where to go a few times we decided we all looked like a bunch of punters with day passes hanging off our jackets so we decided we would keep a tally, not of gnar points but day passer points. Rory Camm was awarded the ultimate day passer award for asking an angry local where the groomed runs are at the top of a particularly gnarly hike.

Day Passer Crew minus a few.

Kicking Horse apparently has the highest Restaurant in Canada. There she goes.

Newly opened Super Bowl with Terminator 2 Peak has some nice in bounds terrain and some even better slack country terrain beyond the ropes. With 85 cm falling in the previous week avo conditions were a bit dodgy so we found some more mellow terrain so as not get caught in another one of these – check below.

The snow and skiing was sweet, with the bowls leading into nicely gladed tress with sweet pow the whole way down.

210 Mulock

210 Mulock. Leslie, Britt, Sean, Mickey..Here is just one day of skiing at the hill for us. Sorry more helmet cam footage! have been planning on doing some real filming but when the pow is this good…… footage from Sean and I of one day skiing at Revelstoke Ski Resort featuring the ski bum team from 210 Mulock st. Britt’s cousin and friends were also visiting so the house was pretty full and hectic in the morning. Also did a few runs with Mr Rory Camm. Sorry no footage of Britt shredding on her board. Britt get with the program and get a helmet cam like the rest of Revelstoke!.. haha.

Red

Just arrived back from a good trip to Red Resort in Rossland B.C Travelled down there with Si Reeves and Rory Camm. The mess above is the result of a rock falling on my head about 10 seconds after I took the photo below. Was sitting under a cliff which was thawing out in the sun when I got one right in the head. At first I didn’t think the damage was too bad but then the blood started to pour out the front of my hat. It bled quite a lot for a couple of minutes but luckily it stopped pretty fast. Ended up with 5 stitches so all patched up now.

After getting hooked up a sweet condo for the first couple of nights Rory’s friend had us to stay at his even better ski house in Rossland.

Conditions were a little challenging as it had rained a bit before we arrived but got better after 10-15cm fell after the second day.

Mr Rory Camm.
